Agriculture

Agriculture continues to be a major contributor to the economy of the Seymour area. With over 800 farming operations, agribusiness is big business for Seymour.   Almost 64% of all acreage in Jackson County is farm ground.  The hard-working ethic of the farm families is seen throughout the community and in our businesses.  Dependable, dedicated and determined are words that can describe the attitudes our citizens bring to their work and involvement in all aspects of our community. 

An active Farm Bureau, an involved Purdue Extension office and productive farms have made the members of our community that are involved in farming an appreciated and valuable part of Seymour and Jackson County.
