Government

The Chamber of Commerce realizes that a harmonious working relationship with our city and county government leaders is crucial to the success of our business members.  To accomplish that, the Chamber’s staff and Board members communicate weekly with our elected officials to maintain a favorable business environment.

Seymour has a Mayoral – City Council form of government.  Seven members of the community are elected to serve a four-year term as members of the City Council.  Their terms run with the election of our Mayor and Clerk Treasurer.   With a population under 30,000, Seymour is classified by the state as a third-class city.
